​This tournament began in 2012 and was renamed as the Jeff Young Memorial Muskie Shootout in 2022. Jeff was an irreplaceable member of the Brainerd Lakes Chapter and was involved in nearly every aspect of the chapter until his passing in 2021. Jeff was also the reason that this tournament got off the ground. Jeff cared deeply about getting the youth involved in fishing and the outdoors. And as part of this tournament, in conjunction with J3 Tackle, funds generated will go towards giving away a lifetime fishing license to one lucky youth each year at our annual Sportsman's Banquet.

​The 2025 Jeff Young Memorial Muskie Shootout at Leech Lake is a wrap! Strong winds, especially on Sunday, made this year's Shootout a challenge.  Still, a few teams were able to put some fish on the board!

We want to extend a huge thank you to our amazing hosts for this event at Agency Bay Lodge, all of the manufacturers that contributed product for our raffles, those that assisted with organizing and putting on this tournament, and of course, all of the participants that joined us this year.
